How to Celebrate and Oktoberfest at Home?

First off, you need to get a Lederhosen or a Dirndl – there are no compromises on that. Lederhosen are traditional Bavarian garments that ooze of masculine charm and class with their rugged and sturdy nature. The Lederhosen at our shop are made from authentic leather offering you a durable garment for a lifetime. It won’t matter if you can go to the Oktoberfest or couldn’t go last year – the Lederhosen is a sure charmer wherever you want to wear it.

What’s Oktoberfest?

The two-to-three-week-long celebration begins in mid-September, despite its name. Clad in traditional Lederhosen and Dirndls, 6 million tourists arrive in Munich to enjoy the festival every year. They are joined by a large number of locals from Bavaria and Munich. That is a plus, as the locals initiate the traditional songs in the beer tents.

The lively songs and that amber color liquid, a good combination, ja?

So, what happened to Oktoberfest Last Year?

Imagine Christmas being canceled – Sing along the Whos; The Grinch who stole the Christmas. As it goes, the misanthropic Grinch born with a heart that is “two sizes too small” steals Christmas. But the Whos refuse to let it ruin their celebration, forming a circle around the Christmas tree to sing carols.

Oktoberfest enthusiasts are reacting the same way.

The Grinch that is Covid-19 became the reason for the cancelation of Oktoberfest – two years in a row. But locals are finding ways to honor the festival – which dates back 200 years – in a much quieter way.

How Oktoberfest Industry Reacted?

“Oans, zwoa, drei, g’suffa!” – The Oktoberfest drinking call – “one, two, three, drink!”

Beer Halls – Beer halls will be setting up smaller celebrations, like last year.

While the Oktoberfest fields might not see the typical large crowds this year, many smaller beerhalls organize their parties, following Covid guidelines on masks and social distancing.

Last year Christian Ude the former mayor, opened such a party by tapping into a keg, wearing Bavarian Lederhosen and a protective mask.

Breweries – Brewers worldwide will be honoring Oktoberfest in their unique ways – some have launched Oktoberfest theme beers, and others with some special contests.

Last year, some breweries hosted a virtual beer tasting session – bringing the liveliness of the Oktoberfest to the comfort of homes.

While others organized personalized “Yodelgrams,” a yodelgram is when a professional yodeling TikTok celebrity arrives at your home with tons of beer and a custom yodel to perform for you.

Restaurants – Many breweries offer some Oktoberfest dishes, while restaurants and beer gardens cook up much more German delights.

Restaurants will be hosting socially distanced Oktoberfest dinners, with Oktoberfest classic dishes like bratwurst, pretzels, sausages, schnitzels, and of course, the German beer.

How to Celebrate Oktoberfest during pandemic?

Thinking outside the box, you can too celebrate Oktoberfest while staying safe from the Pandemic.

How you may ask – Technology has made the world accessible in these uncertain times. With virtual social interaction and some quick Oktoberfest cooking and shopping, you can bring Oktoberfest to your own home, backyard, balcony, or gardens.

Food

Tons of authentic Oktoberfest recipes are available on YouTube. Easy to follow with simple ingredients, these taste divine, whether it’s a;

Schnitzels – A thin slice of pounded meat, breaded before frying. You can use beef, veal, pork, chicken, or turkey to make some for your Oktoberfest celebration.
